Mahanta Sri Sri Vichitrananda Deva Goswami Prabhupada
Mahanta Sri Sri Vichitrananda Deva Goswami Prabhupada was born in 1681 AD. He became the fifth Mahanta of the Sri Sri Shyamanandi Gaddi after the disappearance of his father, Sri Sri Brajajanananda Deva Goswami Prabhupada, and performed exemplary service to the Lord and the devotees. The Muslim ruler of the day became so impressed by his virtuousness that in 1723AD he ordered the tax collectors to offer a share of the collected taxes (one Ganda for each Kahan) to him for serving to the Vaishnavas, Fakirs, visitors and travellers. In exchange, he only sought the Mahanta's blessings for enhancement of his power. At that time, the village leaders, landlords and weavers were creating hindrances in the service of the Deity. Another Muslin ruler, Sujauddin Khan (7th Jujus) gave orders to stop this tyranny.
To this day, six poems composed by Sri Sri Vichitrananda Deva Goswami Prabhupada, have been located. He disappeared on the fifth day of the bright fortnight of the Magha month of 1742 AD without leaving any Child.
